Browsing the net for plants and came across this, never heard of it before has anyone else? does it work or is it just another money maker?

I guess I could see the theory behind it as silver kills bacteria (and perhaps other things?) but I would think it would kill the filter bacteria too? Plus I wouldn't think there would be enough surface area on it to be effective. Plus I'm sure I read somewhere that silver can have a bad effect on fish life

Also cures cancer, rids the neighbourhood of rats, deflowers virgins and wrestles crocodiles for amusement. No electricity, lasts forever, reusable; I'll have two!! Snake oil, such a wonderful thing.

I love reading the descriptions to these.

"It is totally safe and does not leach metals into the water."

Does make you wonder what the point of putting it in there in the first place is.

Read it through a few times and I can't see that it lowers light, increases CO[sub]2[/sub], increases ferts or improves flow....so no, I'd leave it. :good:
