Today is "pea day". I feed my boy his pea once a week. For the second time now, after getting his "treat" he zooms around his tank like a maniac. so funny and too cute. just thought I'd share.
silly betta!!

LOL, he's probably thinking "Yay! I'll be able to poo now!" :hyper:

only kidding - he obviously just loves peas...

haha too cute! I need to start giving mine a pea once a week too! Do you drop it in the water frozen and let it thaw, or do you warm it up first?

hi, little_mermaid,
I personally make sure the thawed, frozen pea is given in small bits - aiming for about the size of a betta's eye - and I believe this is common practice.
Works for me and mine, anyway, as I expect bettas would have trouble biting through a large pea chunk.

I put mine in the micro wave for a about 5 seconds then squeeze it out of the shell and crush it up into tiny pieces on my finger then dip in my finger in the tank and off it goes and its gone. :good:

they do have a rough time if the size is too large. A bit of mine today was too large and he grabbed it and zoomed around the tank with it in his mouth. shook it once or twice then spat it out (wish i had a camera at the time. that made me giggle). Big momma snail found it rather quickly and began to gobble it up. when the betta saw her/him eating "his" pea he swam right up to it an starred at the snail. For about fifteen seconds. Then came back to the glass and begged for more. Today was a very fun feeding!
