I read that if you hold a mirror up to a Betta, he will flare up and swim around like crazy trying to get to the other fish. Well, I've been doing this for weeks and Alpha couldn't care less about his reflection! Today I had my cell phone up to the tank to take a picture and he went crazy! My cell phone cover is a bright shiny blue and he instantly started flaring at it! What a confused little weirdo

I'm sorry, but you really don't care about your little friend. Yes, if you hold a mirror near by your betta, he will get angry and stressed. Stress is the main cause of diseases. So, now you laugh, tomorrow you'll open a new topic: "My Betta is sick - please help". You said, you've done this for months. How can you do this to your little fish FOR MONTHS ???? Don't you understand?!? He is very stressed, maybe he is tyred to react, would you like it if someone would do something like this to tou every day? I really don't understand those people who buy animals to do such things to them. SHAME ON YOU!!

^^Not true, its actually a good way to excersise your betta, its recommended only to do it for 5 mins max though to avoid stressing them out.

bettas kept in barracks see each other all the time and don't get stressed

Ok, I'm sorry if I was too hard, but there are so many people who don't care about the little friends around them. My Betta died yesterday and I'm feeling awful, I can't stop crying.
Please, take good care of them! They are wonderful little souls who really need us!

they are great little characters each being different, am sorry to hear of your loss Tulipa i know how easy it is to get attached to these lil guys :flowers:

Thank you! For me, he was not just a fish, he was a little soul, my little good friend. When I first saw him, I knew he had to be mine. I felt like being something between us. Maybe it sounds crazy, but it's true. I've never had a fish before. And maybe I will never have one again, because it is very hard to say good bye and let them go.
That is why I must say: take good care of them, but first of all, LOVE THEM !! They feel us, eventhough they can't show it to you!

Sorry for your loss! :rip:
But I did my research before I even got my fish and I read how it's good exercise for them to do that. Thanks for your concern though.
