yes it's fine to use, it's inert and wont affect the pH, have used it myself with no problems

Silica is fine I currently use is and it does not affect the PH in any way...but dont Malawi cichlids enjoy and thrive in higher PH waters like Aragonite sand provides ? Just carious..

Yeah they enjoy the higher pH..
The pH might be fine from the tap though as it varies in different areas, adding ocean rock or tuffa rock can raise the pH slightly, adding crushed coral to the filter or crushed oyster shell, other methods such as adding bicarbonate of soda will also do the job....
