I am looking to upgrade to a new filter system in my 75ltr tank. The problem is the new filter has to be silent as its in my bedroom was thinkin of either a fluval 105 external or an internal filter of some sort interpet maybe????

Fluval 105's can be noisy if any air gets into them. I would look at a Rena XP1. These mave very little noise, even when air is trapped in them. My XP2 is quieter than the timer switch running the lights, when I have my ear up to the filter :hyper:

I have Fluval 304s on my 75 gallon tank and after almost 3 years, they are still dead silent. If it weren't for seeing the plants move in the current, you would never know they were on. I think most externals are pretty quiet though.

My 405 can be very noisy, especialy a few hours after cleaning, while all the air clears. Also, if the intake strainer becomes heavily soiled, noise generaly increases. I don't get this noise with my Rena. I think overall the Fluval is the better of the two, but if you want quiet over ease of use, Rena is the way to go IMO. I can't realy comment on any other brands (excluding Ehiem) as I heven't run others. I found Ehiem quiet when running, but I suffered large amounts of failures with this brand :sly:

i had a fluval external and it wasnt overlly noisy but stil a pain at night time as mines in my room to.
then i got an eheim 2236 and its on the other side of my room - i can hear it slightly but its sleepable.
dont think your going to find any filter thats totally silent

I have filters that are somewhat noisy. At first I hated the noise and was going to return them but as time went on I don’t hear them one bit now. So I’m sure you will get used to it IF you can’t find on that is not totally silent you will get used to it.
