just been to one of lfs's, and i was shocked to see a male betta in a tank full of big red eye tetras! about 20 of the red eyes were chasing the betta around the tank nipping and eating its fins, and wat reall p***** me off was that the lfs were laughing saying stuff like: "hahaha, bettas arnt very quick are they!"... and i even said y on earth is there a betta with all those aggressive tetras (at this point they were pinning it against the glass, tearing of finnage) and the member of staff went:"we only put them in for display purposses"...at this point i walked out very very upset..
+ this is not the first time this has happend...

was it a chain of stores or just one individual shop?can you complain to the manager/owner?It is disgusting behaviour and you did right to walk out.That poor fish must of been terrified.They were probably betting how long the betta would last it sounds like they were enjoying the 'show' dog fighting is illegal for heavens sake ,shouldnt the same principal be followed for fish?

try find the manager like has been said or im sure someone on here will kno who to complain too cos that is jus wrong!

That's really bad.

I think I would have felt like sparking him out if I had seen him laughing at the poor fish.

i dont think its a chain of stores, but i have 4 lfs's round were i live, but this is the only one that does things like that ...wat really bugged me as well was that they had like a long tank split up with a betta in each section, and there was 4 spaces EMPTY!!....now i was this close... to getting one of the nets hanging up and fishing it out n putting it in one of the spaces!!!!....it was really to late becoz it was stressed and had absolutely no fins and was being cornerd down by to big red tailed black sharks and loads n loads of tetras....it tried to hide in a cave bless it; but they jsut found it again i cud of kicked my self for not taking any money! i would of bought it!!! ....and this isnt the only thing that has happend that has concerned me, they were keeping big angels with los of baby tetras, i thought angels eat tetras??
