Fish Fanatic
I have no idea whats been bothering my rainbows for the last 4 months. Each fish has been dying one by one, the first four within a month (maybe three months ago?), this last ones had it for two months. I just dont want my rsinbbows to keep dying.
Symptoms are as follows
one protruding eye, doesnt look clouded or deformed like popeye, just stuckout a bit, looks normal untill you get a sideveiw. no bleeding or swelling.
some protruding scales on the side, looks similar to parasites under the skin but i used a magnifying glass and can just see five or ten stuck out scales. (in a group)
Back very arched, sunken in belly, getting worse all the time. lost the traditional rainbowshape. not a squiggly line like in some cases, just one, continuous arch.
only kills one at a time, only kills rainbows.
long lived disease, kills slowly.
fish hangs around at the top, gasping for air a lot, the gills flapping madly.
Dark greyish in color
has been a bit lumpy.
Im so afraid im going to have to kill this fish. Ive never had to kill a fish before :[
ph- 6.8
hardness- soft/neutral
nitrites-none
nitrates-10
1 watt per gallon, many plants, growing fast
