My female pearl gourami looks very sick. I noticed for last couple of weeks the fish was not showing much activity. Constantly hiding behind the plants at the back of the tank. Over the weekend noticed that it is constantly staying at an angle of 45 deg in the middle of the tank looking upwards.

I haven't added any new plants or fish to my stock. Recently added JBL Kugeln Balls given by my friend for the plants. The water chemistry is normal.

I have moved the fish to a spare tank I have. I used 75% water from main tank and 25% fresh water. The filter is also used from the main tank. I have tried to feed it dried blood worms with no success.

I have added Aquarium Treatment - 13 for Swimbladder and Treatment - 7 for Anti Slime & Velvet. I am not sure if this is the right thing to do.

I have just came home and the fish actually looks worse. I am afraid it is going to die.

Is there anything I can do?

Im not sure - Although people will post giving you good advise, all I can say is Good Luck and I hope everything turns out ok.

Never add meds till you know what wrong with the fish.
Never mixed meds it can do more harm than good.
So you medicated the tank with a swim bladder treatment and velvet med. Why did you add the velvet med.
Do a 40% water change and run some black carbon.
The only time a swim bladder med works if its a bacterial infection of the swim bladder.
Don't feed the bloodworms for a fews days. Over feeding freeze dried foods can lead to swim bladder and contipation.
Does it look lilke the fish tail is being weighed down in the water.
What do you feed the fish.

Swim bladder is caused by bad water quality, poor diet, injury of the swim bladder, deformed swim bladder, internal parasites, bacterial infection, gulping air, unstable temp.

Any signs of flicking and rubbing.
Does the fish look pale or darker in colour.

Hi regimail :)

As one lone female gourami, in a tank with 7 angels and 3 male pearl gouramis, your fish is probably stressed out. This can weaken a fish and make it more prone to bacterial diseases and other problems. Wilder will help you sort through the symptoms to see if it can be treated, but it would be a good idea to avoid to avoid future problems by not putting her back in the original tank.

In the meanwhile, keep her calm and at about 78 F., and offer her a good quality flake food.

Thanks for a quick response.

I will do a 40% water change now. I saw her flicking here body once or twice so that I will add anti slim as well.

Her tail is almost stuck together. Her fin is also contracted and very close to her body.

I feed tropical flakes food normally. Once a week I feed them frozen blood worms or dried blood worms or dried tubifex or live brine shrimps.

All the fish are together for a very long time. I have not seen any agression amongst them ever. I have never seen the males chasing the female or fighting amongst them ever. Angels dont bother the gouramis either.

I would feed more frozen foods like daphnia and brimes strimp. Don't over feed bloodworms as it can make fish bloat up.
Also introduce some green veg into there diet.
If fins are sticking together is can be bacterial finrot.
Once you ran black carbon for aday maybe add some myxazin by waterlife.

Fish can flick and rub now and again but it dosn't always mean parasites. It can mean a number of things from bad water quality, parasites, bacterial, something in the tank thats irratating them.

I would also feed some cooked peas.

I have frozen daphnia which I will try to feed her. I will also try peas.

Sorry I forgot to mention I dont have carbon with me. Also I dont have myxazin. I will get myxazin tomorrow and treat the fish.

Is it OK to do 40% water change today and another 40% water change tomorrow and then add the med?

I would still run some black carbon just to make sure all the meds out of the tank.

How is the fish.
Is the fish going to the toilet, If so what does it look like.

I haven't seen it poo at all in last 2 days so not sure. Also it is not eating at all. I will try and feed her frozen peas today. Is this OK?

Is he still at an angle.
Soak some flakes in garlic juice to stimulate his appetite.

She looks bit more active today. I have seen her swimming around rather than just sitting in one place. Also the tail fin is looking bit better.

I dont think she has eaten anything yet. I dropped some crushed peas but they are all sitting at the bottom as is. I am going to remove them now.

I dont have any garlic juice but I do have some garlic. Can I crush a garlic add some water and then soak some flakes in it? Will it work.

I have never hear of this before but willing to try anything if it gets her better.

Do you mean you have garlic granules. Fresh garlic usually the best.
Glad there some improvement,. Did you add a med.

Yes i have garlic granules. I will grate it and soak some flakes in it and feed her. Let me know if this is ok.

I have not added any med yet as i dont have carbon to remove existing med. I will do another 40% water change and depending on how she is doing will add med tomorrow morning.

Sounds fine to me with the garlic.
Don't cut the med to short.
