Yeah, haven't posted in a while sorry about that.

Regardless, my friend who's fish tank I recently got to see is really nice, i'm not sure of the size I think around 80 US gallons. The current fish are a school of 4 tinfoil barbs which are each around 8 inches or so, and a single Oscar which is around 10 inches. The problem is with the oscar, and i'm not sure what disease it has, something tells me fin rot. The Oscar has developed an infection of some sort. The Oscar has developed large pock marks on its face around the eyes and on the gill covering on the right side only which are coloured white. Along side that the fishes dorsal fin has also been eaten away partially, producing the same white looking stuff.

He said hes spent about $90 CAD dollars on medication so far. Everything from Ich Mecication to Nutri Max, so i'm not sure what it could be as i'm not very experienced with dieseases in tropical fish.

Any help? Sorry no photos.

EDIT:

Looking around, it could also be HITH desease.

Not sure what you mean by pock marks do you mean indented holes.
Can you describe it in more detail.
The fins do you mean white fluffy fungus type stuff on the fins.

Sorry about the long delay. I've been busy with diploma exams.

Yes, sorry, I do mean indented holes. Like, ditches. Pock marks. And yeah they're covered in a fluffy white infected fleshy kinda stuff. Along with the patch on the fin rays.

maybe he ( the oscar ) has been bitten or something, and it has then gone fungal, my oscars still have the marks on them where they were in the tank in the lfs and got bitten, and they are quite similar to what you are describing except for the fungus.
also are there any ornaments in the tanks that he could be hurting himself on?
is the oscar still eating and pooing and all, and is the water tests ok? what about the temprature? is that ok, so the oscar isnt hurting himself trying to get to the heater?
also is he being fed live goldfish ? as this is not a good diet for them and can lead to all sorts of problems.
you could try using melafix for 5 days, without the carbon in the filter,
good luck, let us know how he gets on

shelagh xx

I agree indent holes like in pricks is hole in the head.
If you can fluffy growth on the fish that sound like columnaris
