Note: I just typed this all out, then my computer decided it wanted to go back a page to see the other posts!

Hi everyone, so one of my guppies is really sick. I don't even know why, it isn't a disease like white spot or a fungal infection. I started noticing it 2 nights ago when my guppy was staying down the bottom of the tank, hiding in between the plants and not moving. Then he started hanging about near the top, I could still coax him to eat at this point.

Then last night he was acing even stranger. He was at the very top of the tank resting on a big leaf. He was still upright, but he wasn't breathing well. Then he would go down to the bottom and not move, and he had very shallow breathing. I thought he would probably be dead by the morning.

This morning I found him at the very top again, resting on the big leaf. He has little balls inside his head which I haven't noticed before. Could this be a brain tumor?

Do you think I need to euthinise him?

I also have 12 rummynose tetras, 5 shrimp, 2 snails and 1 more guppy in this tank and they are all acting normal. I have really good filtration and aeration in my tank.

I know this is a long post but be sure to read it all before you reply.

Thanks, Fishywishy.

Have you tested the water and done a water change?

Do you know how old the guppy is? It sounds rather like old age, if all the other fish are fine.

Yes, I did a water change yesterday, and tested my water parameters and they are fine.

I don't know how old he is but you might be right.

Thanks for the post.

Sorry I can't be more helpful. We all lose fish, from time to time, with nothing we can do

I woke up this morning and thought he was dead, but when I went to net him out, he moved. I just put him to sleep with clove oil because as he was almost dead. I think he might have actually had a brain tumor. Also one of my rummynose tetras died. It was really mysterious because he was swimming at a funny angle out of the blue, then he went up to the filter output and got blown about. I couldn't find him for ages but then I found him, and he had died.
