Ok, so lovely healthy Neon blue dwarf male for a couple of months then he got this zit by his mouth. Read a lot of articals here and looks like its a common and fatal condition. Then he practically stopped feeding, hid a lot and produced long, very long stringy white poo. Had been treating with Interpet no 9. Then carbon now have done(as suggested here) a 3 day coarse of Waterlife Octozin. The zit has gone down a lot but he isn't showing interest to food and is hanging at the surface. He doesn't look bad (photo) I thought maybe the oxygen is low due to meds but have to wait till day 8 before water change and carbon. I do have surface aggitation.
Anyway, here he is....any more suggestions?

Was the zit hard looking or like soft filled with fluid.

Wow thanks for that. He is going down hill fast now. I don't think he'll make it through the night. He is resting on an orniment near the surface an breathing rapidly.

No he won't your'e right, to late for the meds now he won't handle them sorry bless him.

Thank you "Wilder". If, and it's a big if, if I were to get another one when he inevitably goes then what precautions should I take....ie amount of water changes/time lapse etc. This does seem isolated to male d gouramis. All other fish ok including female gouramis

With the gourami virus I would quarantine all new fish.
Gourami are very prone to bacterial infections and need excellent water quality.
I had seven red honey gouramis lost the lot won't keep them any longer.
Sylvia excellent on gouramis get some advice from her.
Good luck and sorry it to late for the one that dying.

Ok cheers on that.....bye
