I just noticed my gourami has some red markings up above his mouth, between his eyes. It looks like he scraped himself up against a rock or something, but it's hard to tell. The skin has a few little chunks missing and the area around it is a redish color.

He lives with an angel, but it doesn't look like the angel could have done that.

Any ideas or what it is, or what I should do?

Thanks

He could very well have scraped himself on something. Nosey gouramis

Does it look white/fuzzy or anything? Is he acting unwell? Hiding?

If not, I would keep the water extra clean and add a bit of salt along with some melafix. If he's in tip top shape he should heal up really quickly.

I'd still watch out for the angel, especially as they both mature. Angels are quick with a clean kill IME, it seems like they go for the face more than anything. Gouramis have a tendency to not back down, while waiting around to see what will happen next...which isn't to his advantage in this case.

It looks a little white/fuzzy. But he is acting normal and seems weel. When I come to the tank he expects food like normal. He's not hiding at all.

Thanks for the reply, I will just keep an eye on it and see if it heals or gets worse.
