Funny you should say about switching to tropical because that is exactly what i'm doing, i want to sort this out first but i have a new home for them lined up with a lady from my riding stables who will put them in a big pond when they grow to a good size (just dont particularly want to give her an ill fish) But they will be going soon-ish so then im starting a planted tropical tank(as i have the feeling that the tropis will be alittle less messy lol)
And again thankyou so much for all the help Sarah,
Jorel
hi Jorel
After nearlly 20 years of coldwater fish i switched to tropical and god how easy it is , you still need to do the weekly gravel vacs and water changes but the tank stays a hell of a lot cleaner
all you'll need to do is add a heater and make sure you add fish as soon as possible so the bacteria in the filter doesn't die i would do a 100% water change and a really good gravel vac then add all new de cholinated water , add your heater in the evening and go buy the fish in the morning just get a group of 6 smallish fish to start off with to keep your filter going then test your water again and if its ok get some more the following week
best of luck , what sort of tropicals are you after ? - do lots of research and ask lots of questions about the type of fish you are looking to get this will stop any incompatibility issues , minimum tank size , aggression etc
ask me questions if you like i dont know that much but together we will get the answers
