Hi, i purchased a mono a week ago along with two red clawed crabs. Everything has been fine until this morning when i noticed a redish/whitish string hanging from his anus. I checked again twenty minutes later and it was mostly gone so i figured he was poohing. But when I looked again three hours later there was a red tubular "string" hanging from his anus and he is swimming rapidly back and forth as if trying to get it to fall off. The tubular string is still there another three hours later. From reasearch I understand it is probably an internal parasite but how do i know what to treat him with? Should i remove my crabs before treatment? My tank is a forty gallon tank that is in the process of being converted to brackish with salt at 1.004 right now. Ammonia, nitrite and nitrate are all zero. The pH is at about 8.2. I also just finished a three day treatment to cure ick with quick cure (the filter with carbon was added back in yesturday. i do water changed once a week and remove five gallons of water each time. Also, i don't know if affects curing the parasite but I have a sand bottom instead of gravel as the tank is intended to be completly brackish and is getting prepared for a GSP. Any suggestions of what to do for the poor guy would be great!
thanks

Idont know about treating the worms ice (kat) if the food you are feeding the fish is a the same colour as the poo then thats ok. Stacy does sound like she has a parasite.
