Sick Discus, Please Help!

wormerplus is useless in this situation . in fact tbh its pretty crap all round , having had discus , and had this problem with 1 of them wormerplus didnt touch it , octozin knocked it out . a good point about the nitrates tho , they certainly wont appreciate those being to high . flubendazole is ok for things like tapeworm , but doesnt seem to touch hexamita , which from dealiing with before im sure is the problem here

Right well its been 3 and a bit days after the three day course of octozin, and things are exactly the same. The white poo is still there, the clamped fins, and i havent seen him eat in ages. All other discus are fine. As a sidenote he unclamps his fins at night and reclamps his fins after about a minute of the lights being on. How long after treatment should I start seeing improvement if the octozin has worked?

You need to take him out of that tank NOW! He will not get better with others around to stress him out. You need a 10gal or 20gal hospital tank set up asap. Keep it bare with just a one decoration or fake plants to give him shelter.

Do 50% wc everyday after feedings. Keep the temp at 30C or 32C. Keep the lights off if you see the light tends to stress him off. I would not use any meds unless you know what it is. Give him a break from treatments.

Clean water and no other fish to stress him out should help him a lot. It very hard for a sick fish to get well when other healthy fish are gettig all the food or nipping at him. When you are sick you want to be in your room nice and quite so you can rest. So try a hospital tank and see how that works.

As Snowflake said you must move him into a Hospital tank ASAP. Its the only way to effectively treat discus its also much more cost effective.

I think some progress is being made, he no longer clamps his fins and his poo is still whitish but no longer clear and mucousy.

I would personly do a 50 %water change with pure ro water and also clean out for filter and raise the temp couple degrees over 30 and add a garlic beefheart mix for food

Thank you to everyone who replyed to my original post, i'm really happy to announce my discus has made a complete recovery after loads of care over the past few weeks!!! Thanks to everyone who posted a reply I really appreciated the help!!! :D

good stuff :good: with octozin the parasites are killed pretty quickly but it can take up to 7 days for the fish to show outward signs of improvement .

the garlic beefheart is a good idea , but the 50% waterchange with purew ro water is ill advised . that would cause a big swing in water paramaters which only adds more stress
