Finally got the chance to test the water:
1. PH is 8.8..High yes API Kit..7.2 with strips..Kit is 2 years old..Bad solution maybe??..Added large chunk of driftwood today

Green Killing Machine
One Angel is 1 month in but Gourami spot has been developing since last summer.
No other fish is sick or has died since tank was started 1.5 years ago.
No snails
Water change weekly to 10 days 20-25%
The Gourami just sits behind plants until feeding time, then he moves to eat. No fish picking on him. Peaceful tank. Even the ghost shrimp last.
