Hi there,

I have a single male Crowntail in a 10 gallon tank. I imagine he is roughly 2 and a half years old. Recently, he has started acting more and more lethargic, and, consequently, I have been doing regular water changes, dosing aquariurm salt etc. and giving him live food occasionally to try and help him recover. However, now he is simply lying on the bottom of the tank, hardly moving, and when he does move he sinks back down. His abdomen looks swollen, however he has always bloated when he has eaten, so I am unsure of what is causing said bloating. My water parameters are:
PH: 7
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0.

Sorry, I can't seem to get any photos to attach.

Thanks

If you have photos upload them to photobucket or flickr and post the link on here :)

Thanks for that!

(Sorry for the poor quality, I can't find my real camera.)

Sometimes its really hard to diagnose the problem as to what is actually wrong with your betta because many symptoms can be similar to other diseases. A lot of things can contribute to stress your fish out which knocks the immune system out of wack.Over feeding, poor water conditions, wrong temp or sudden change of temp, parasites etc etc etc. Is your fish still eating? Judging by the pics he doesn't look very well at all so I'm guessing No....sorry  I'm going with an internal bacteria infection....Try and see if you can get your hands on a broad spectrum antibiotic to see if that will help in his recovery. Your lfs should be able to supply you with one. I'm hoping he will pull through, all the best :good:
