Hi there,

My Siamese Flying Fox is the biggest cowardy custard fish in my tank. All I have to do is walk into the room and he / she goes bananas trying to hide!! Are they naturally timid fish or is mine just 'sensitive'? All I ever see half the time is a nose peeking out from his / her hiding place. The other half the time, I see a fish streaking across the tank at full speed... I used to have two of them, but this one was getting so badly bullied that I took the tankmate to the LFS.

(This shyness doesn't stop him chasing after my Zebra Danios though... Grrrrr...)

:hyper:

And I only managed to get the following pic by lying in wait and 'pouncing' on him / her!! (How do you sex SFFs?)

So, are they naturally timid?

I've always kept at least three, that way they annoy themselves instead of other species. The more there are the better, so no one fish gets bullied.

Ah...

So it's best to keep these fish in a small shoal?

Oh b*gger... I'm kinda near the maximum that my tank will hold, so having two more SFFs isn't really a viable option.

i have one and he is TOO active LOL!

He won't settle down lol, always up to something. :fun: :fun:

yup they are crazy. nice way to put it. i gave mine away. stressed the other fish out too much. the guppies were all on the surface. when i gave the fox away. they all came down pecking at the gravel on the bottom lol. poor things.
