Hello people :)

Iv recently been thinking about purchasing some siamese fighting fish. What size tank will i need? Iv got three 20 gallon tanks ad 1 5 Gallon if there any good for one of them! I already know they can not live together because they will rip each others fins off. Is it possible for a male and a female to be housed in a 10 Gallon aquarium? Please give me some care advice please.

Sorry, but you can't keep a male and female together as they will end up attacking each other.
Bettas can be kept in tanks as small as 2 gallons but personally I prefer to keep mine in a 5g+. They need a heater and the temperature should be kept at about 78-81F. A filter is a personal preference, I prefer to keep my Bettas in filtered tanks but again some people don't use one at all.
If using a filter, then you need to minimise the flow as Bettas prefer little or no current and water changes of about 20% should be performed weekly. If you choose not to use a filter, then water changes need to be done about twice a week of about 30%-50%.
A lot of people give their Bettas a varied diet eg. pellets, flake, bloodworm, daphnia and occasionally a shelled pea to help with constipation. Bloodworm should only be given about twice a week as it is high in protein and can cause constipation in your fish. Again, a lot of members have one day a week where they don't feed their fish and this will do them no harm.
I feed my Bettas once a day and some members feed theirs twice a day, it's entirely up to you whether you feed them once or twice.

the 5G would be good for just a male, you shouldn't try putting a male and female together it can be dangerous but in sometimes can be ok, try getting betta pellets for them dont feed them flake all the time! and they dont need a filter but in a 5g it would be a good idea :good: every day for about 20 mins try putting a mirror by the side of his tank all bettas like to flare at something
Good Luck.

I feed mine flake with no problems whatsoever. I use TetraBetta which all of my boys love, certainly doesn't do them any harm!

Thanx for all of info people! Iv decided to go and get a 7 Gallon aqua 40 for one. Im guna use a undergravel filter.

thanx people :)
