I was looking at the fish at LFS and saw that they had two floating boxes (Like breeding traps) where male fighters should be. It was very unusal for the shop to have to boxes in same tank though. I had a look and saw that a peachy colour VT male was still in his box but a birght red male was in the box with him. The red one with nipping him and flaring at him, stressing the poor fish out. I cant believe the peachy one didnt die. I run to the counter and asked to pay that fish... So I brought him home. Not thinking I had no where to put him at the moment. At the moment he is in a breeding box (A big one) floating on top of a tropical fish tank water. His tail is all riped and spilt through biting and he is still breeding heavy. He is always laying oh his side with a slight curl to him. (I know that isnt a good sign) I would put him in main tank but there is :

3 tetras (Which Im not bothered with)
Goruami
Siamese Flying Fox
Catfish (Not bothered with)
Gaint Danios

I dont think this would be the best tank for him to go into you. The tank at my house is full of male and female platties and guppies. Some people get away with male fighters with guppies but Im not sure if I should risk it or not.

I want to bring him back to health, instead of him laying on his side all the time. He did manage to eat something today though (I got him Yesturday)

Please Help

Get a divider for the smaller tank, and let him have one section. Daily 50% water changes for a week will do wonders for torn fins.

In my opinion [ i may be wrong] but i would keep him in the breeding trap.

I think if you put him in a tank with other fish they may pick on him in the state that he is in =[

the fins will heal with good water quality but what's worrying is him curling up, he may have some internal injurys which im not sure if it is treatable

I can't advise what treatments incase im wrong, but im sure someone will be along soon!

good luck and well done for rescuing him=]

There is no way I could have a smaller tank. Mother wont let me have one at my house neither will my boyfriends father as i already have a 3G one here and boyfriends has a huge 3FT bowed front tank as well

Per your profile you have two tanks, if one is smaller get the divider for the smaller tank. If the one is still cold water go with the warmer tank.

I got the coldwater one shot of about a month ago. Nothing is it in and i have heater and filter for it but mother wont let me set it up again for some strange reason...

Its not them picking on him through illness i didnt know if these fish were natural nippy fish anyways. Boyfriend is worried about flying fox killing the siamese fighter if let out. I dont know if its something wrong. But in the betta sections I have noticed when ever its ill (As simple as whitespot) they tend to go lazy and just curl up ?

Obo i didnt know what was going on with the two bettas before I got there

So clear water to help fins recover - OK!

If he has internal injuries what are the signs and are there any cures? Bed rest and good food?

I was going to house this fish temporarily until he got betta, but due to the tank having leaked all its contents over my bedroom floor I have no other spares.

Is there anyone in Bournemouth, Poole area that could help this young lady out?
