Hi, I was just wondering if puffers become shy and hide when a stranger comes into the room? My GSP did just that when my Mom came into the room, he was at the bottom and his colors changed to a dull color with more black on the belly and all over. He hid by one of the pots but kept peeking up with those adorable eyes to see what was going on. When she left he came back out swimming and the colors turned back to normal. Just curious :)

Also, I read in another forum that a person whom uses Aqua Clear filters puts a sponge over the intake valve for better clarity of the water. I would only do this as to not suck up any small fish. But have any of you heard of this?

Hi Lynn

My Dwarfs used to do the same thing when my wife came into the room. To get around it she just had to feed them a couple of times, now they rush to the front for both of us :D
As for the sponge, I would think it would impede the filter more than help, like you say, I would only do it to keep the filter from sucking up smaller fish? I'll be interrested to hear if anyone else does/has done this, and how well it works
