hello
all of a sudden one of my guppies seems to have shrunk. in width and alot in length. her tail seems much thinner too and her belly looks really thin. she's still swimming around but its looking like its starting to be a bit of an effort. still feeding well and still being chased by the males. i've been doing 30% water changes every week and after noticing her i've just done a 50% water change altho the test kit said my water was ok. any ideas? thanks rich.

How much is she getting chased? If she's stressed out, she could've picked up an infection which will only likely improve if the stressor is removed. Also could be wasting disease from a parasite. Do daily water changes of 25% for the next 10 days or so to see if there is any improvement. Pay attention to the faeces, If it's white and stringy, it could be a parasite. If not, just do the water changes and see if there is any improvement in the next few days. If the males are chasing her around a lot, you may have to make a decision to re home someone or so a quarantine in another tank if that's an option for you.

Good luck

Was she pregnant? She could have given birth. What is your female to male ratio.

she's getting chased around the same amount as the rest a few chases then she's left alone. when she lies on the bottom of the tank she really aint bothered with by the males at all. the males only really seem interested when the females are close. so she quite easily stays out of their way for hours at a time. (yes i really do spend hours looking into the tank) lol the ratio is 1 male to every 3 females. she has been pregnant before but since dropping her last fry she is alot smaller than the others that have given birth. her faeces is normal in colour but is extra curly and seems to stay with her alot longer than the others. i'll do a few water changes and see if the fry are big enough to go in the main tank and if they are i'm able to put her in a 2foot tank all by herself. if it is an infection what can i do to help her? thanks for the replies.

it may be a old female shes had her last brood of fry.
many old females can go fin and out shape some even looking deformed try feeding some live foods it may
help it to recover

yeah will do. i'm going fish shopping later so will get some. any good chemicals to get to help her out at all?
