Shrip Vs Pleco

soo i have a 30gal (long) community tank that is stocked with mainly tetras and a few other things, anyways the tank is not hevely planted but i do have about 6 live plants in the tank. also a little slate thing i built. i was woundering should i get a pleco (if soo what type) or should i get alittle army of shrip (if so what type) to keep the tank under controle with algey. there is no problum with too much alge now just want something incase.

what do u think?? all ideas and comments accepted help me outttt.

Shrimp like moss and other plants, they graze for hours on them
Make sure there is no copper in your tank too

i can just buy a test kit to check for copper???
and ill prob get a few clumps of mass.

alsoo this is completly off topic kinda. but i have a mbuna also and a spair 10gal tank and was woundering if there is a type of shrimp (besides brine) that i can rase in the tank for fish food? lol sorry for kinda changing topic

The only thing to watch is that as you say you don't have any algae problems at the moment, a plec may end up starving to death unless you always keep an algae wafer in the tank. An army of shrimp will feed off of waste food, plants, and just about anything else that is organic that is of use to them, the only thing is I haven't a clue what your stock is, and some fish will see the shrimp as food and eat them. An apple snail can help in these cases, and one is going to do okay by itself if there is a hint of algae in your tank (it's not always obvious to the eye).

thanks guys and my stock is primerily small tetras, biggest is congo tetras. put a few rasboras and 2 hachitfish. ohh and my corys

i am thinkin of going with a few shrip. how many should i get?

I had an apple snail it was great at eating all the left over bits of food and cleaning the algae BUT it starting eat all my plants but that is just my personal experience, I have herd many people say they have them in a tank with live plants and they get along fine

Get around 10 amano shrimp . If you want something a little more colourful then 20 cherries would be good.
