Hi all, I have 2 honey gourami IN A BIG COMMUNITY TANK and got them both at the same time and both seemed very happy together but over the past 2 month 1 of them i think is the female has shrurk (honestly) I am confused as to why.
Please advies me of your knowlege.

Just how 'BIG' is your community tank? (in gallons)

Did she shrink in size or is she simply thinner?

Hi, and please accept my appolagies, when i said "BIG" i was meaning compared to alot of community tanks.

Anyway, The tank is 47.5 UK gallons (216 litres)

She has shrunk in size, (a little thinner but not much) she was the same size as the male when i first got them about 8months ago but has shrunk considerabley compared to the male which has grown slightly. I thought it was just because the male had grown slightly but then compared her to the neons when i first got her and now and she has infact "SHRUNK"

Any ideas what this could be or even why this may have happened?

Thanx
Andi

It's not possible for her to have really shrunk. Neons grow pretty fast so comparing her to them isn't going to work and male dwarfs grow larger than females anyway. It's probably just a perception issue - don't worry about it. Now if she had actualy lost a lot of weight, I would worry as it could be a sign of disease - or it could also simply be re-absorption of eggs which is harmless.
