Shrimps Shed.

I had no clue that shrimps Shed. In my tank I had 3 ammano and 1 Cherry shrimp. I hadn't seen my cherry for weeks. Thought he was dead as i found an empty shell 3 weeks ago. Today I saw another 3 Shells I thought my Gouramis had eaten them. So sorting out my plants I found all my shrimps alive. Surprised none of my fish are interested in them so im going to try and add more shrimp

shrimp will molt many times in their life, mine seem to do it more when i do a large water chnage

Shrimp shed more often while in the growth phase then slow down to shedding approx. every 2 weeks or so. They will also shed more when they are stressed out or if they get fed a lot during their growth phase. Don't take the shed out, as they will consume the old shell and get some minerals out of it.

I knew shrimps shed their skin before I got my amanos but it did come as a shock seeing the empty shell the first time!
