I have four amano shrimp in my community tank and was gob smacked to see their latest antics to get a share of the food at feeding time. One decided to get tough with the Rams, Cardinals etc by pushing them out of the way for food floating on top. After dropping a nutrafin sinking catfish tablet into the tank i looked away for a second and then turned back to see another shrimp romping off with a full tablet between its legs. I am afraid the catfish go hungry tonight....

Hi,

I'm afraid to say that my amano shrimps are exactly the same. They seem to lie in wait, looking all innocent, and the moment I drop any kind of food in the top they make a dash for it. They look so funny cos they load themselves up and try to swim away as if nothing has happened.

They also go completley mental when I gravel vac. They rush around the tank bumping into things and generally scaring everything else in the tank. I guess they think all their christmas' have all come at once, what with all the food that gets stirred up.

Still they are cool little guys and I love them.

What i do is put some food at one side of the tanks and let the shrimps take it then put enough food out for your fish. then after 30 mins take the left over food out and put in a container never throw it out then when it come to feeding time again put the food in that you took out and your shrimps will eat that then just put fresh food out for your fish.

this way you are beating the shrimps at their own game ang everyone and thing is a winner :hey: :hey: :hey:
