Ghost shrimp are very easy to come by, relatively inexpensive and do a wonderful job at eating debris in your tank. They only potential problem is they are also frequently part of a fishes diet. I would say throw a few dollars worth in and see what happens. Worse comes to worse you spent $3 to make your fish happy.

I've been wondering about ghost shrimp myself... I couldn't find any information on them. they look like fun. Are they freshwater? Can they tolerate a bit of salt?

Sorry for hitchhiking.

Yes they are freshwater. From the little I know about them I would think there is a good chance that they can at least tolerate (possibly thrive) in a brackish water aquarium.

then I'd say you are safe... give them a shot and let us know how it went.

yes, shrimp do poop alot.
but they eat all the debris and make sure no food rots in the tank.

if there is no food available, they will eat algea

I have actually watched my shrimp eat molly poop. It was gross.

I put a shrimp in my tank it only lasted a few days then vanished,I think one of the fish must have got it :/

Never got another :(

Shrimps don't poop alot. They do poop non-stop, but their poop doesn't load water in practice at all. One can keep even more than 200 shrimps in 100 litres planted tank and keep nitrate 0 with normal water changes.

Shrimps doesn't eat poop either. They do put poop into their mouths but will spit it out sooner or later. They eat leftover foods and algae depending on species. If shrimps really are eating poop you might wan't to think giving them some food. ;)

Use for example babel fish (altavista) to translate if you can't understand deutsch.
