I know you can get cleaner shrimp for saltwater over here, but are there any freshwater shrimp species available? I think they are cute and would make an interesting addition to my smaller tank. I have Googled, no information as to whether they are available.

Thanks in advance! :good:

Not in the sense of the shrimp "cleaning" for the freshwater. Basically they don't set up shop and clean parasites off passing fish (it would be nice if they did exisit :p ). They do clean in the sense of feeding off algae, left over foods.

Thanks. :) Sorry, my post wasn't worded too well. I know there aren't cleaner shrimp in the same sense as in SW tanks. I meant if there are ghost shrimp etc. available here.

Haven't seen them in any of my LFS myself - some will do special orders, so you could ask your local if they are able to get them for you.

It may be a case of "not allowed to import" - there are some pretty strict rules about what fish stores can/can't import here.

Ah, I got ya. I'd check some "Bait Shops" here in the states if one can't find them in the local fish shops I head off to the bait shops. Or some good Chinese market may carry fresh water shrimps (like in China Town in Australia if there is one).
