Don't know if this is a daft question but, will cherry shrimp eat fish eggs, the reason I ask this is because I have in my fluval edge some cherry shrimp and some lamp eyes and nothing else, every so often I notice one or two fry, they grow up quite happily cause theres no predators to eat them and all in all I have about 10 grown up. Sureley though the adults dont just lay one or two eggs thats what got me thinking do the shrimp eat the eggs?

I wouldn't expect them to. but the lameyes will eat the eggs aswell as the fry so the small survival rate doesn't suprise me, the fry also could be not getting enough food, and getting sucked into the filter, I highly doubt it's the shrimp as there are too many other possibilities

i would strongly suspect the adult lampeyes of eating their own eggs and fry. The cherry shrimp have probably aided in the eggs of the fish hatching in the first place as cherry shrimp generally clean eggs of particles that may cause fungus. Plus the cherry shrimp (when in high enough numbers with babies of all sizes) become a food source for the fish.

Shrimps will feast on fish eggs. When my tetras get in breeding mode my bee and cherry shrimp converge on the breeding area. I regularly see them dashing in and coming out with the tiny spheres.
