should i stay in the hobby of fishkeeping? i havent done a water change in 3 months :look: my mom took my good bucket and i cant do water changes. even before that, i always thought dragging a bucket wasnt so fun. my fish seem kind of boring, maybe its because they are all in my room and the filter keeps waking me up at night. im planning on moving the tanks to my game/work room. does anybody know of any really active fish that can fit in a 10 gallon? does anybody know where i can trade the fish that i have for other fish? does petsmart trade fish? will nitro or oil fumes harm fish?

Edit: oh yeah, i just spent 50 bucks on an engine for my boat, so i cant spend more than 4 bucks per fish, and my siphon tube is only 10 feet long

I think that you are a flamer
I'll waste no more of my time on you!

3 months?! holy cow. i certainly hope you don't have fish in there

well if you can't invest time in your fish and having fish bothers you so much... i think giving up fishkeeping is best for you. sailing seems your priority so enjoy it - just don't harm the fish :/

Dude Get a toy submarine and give the fish to the LFS you are throught. I'm working so hard not to flame you right now but I will say that this was an awefully troll like post to write

Losing interest in a pet is a problem. I would recommend re-homing your fish. You say your mom took your bucket... if you have $50 for a boat engine then you have $5 for a darned bucket!
There really is no excuse, if you are not going to look after them then give them away. And do not get more fish.

I won't blast you because I think you're just a kid (and I hope my guess is right). You stilll have a lot of things to learn in this area, so perhaps when you're older, and hopefully, more wiser, you'll be more knowledgable and come back to fishkeeping. That is if you find the time to.

My advice is to go away now, and enjoy your life. When you do decide to come back to this hobby, you'll need to find out a little more about what you're doing.

Good luck, sport. :D

I don't think you should have fish because you are obviously not interested in them, that is ok. Not everyone gets into the hobby and loves it but you need to rehome the fish if you are not interested in them, it's only fair.

Keep the tank and stuff under your bed or something so you have something to come back to if you want to.

:D

Surprised he still as them ,he was trying to sell the tanks the end of may. Go to your lfs and ask him to take the fish of you. Seeing you have a puffa and gouramis I'm sure they will.

U shouldn't even be keeping fish if u think water changes are boring but most of us feel the same but we still do them if ur fish are alive then i would have them put down in the state they must be in. I Mean 3 months i've gone 1 mont without waterchanges but never 3.

yes oil and nitro will hurt fish but then i doubt it will make and diff to the amount of suffering they're going throu.

HOW COULD U! u shouldn't even be alloud to keep fish.

get rid of the tank and take the fish to a smaller fish store becasue those are the ones that always take fish, and go have fun with your $50 engine, and how could you not find a bucket explain that one?

Don't worry mate, fishkeeping isnt for every1. it can be tedious at times, and if have other interests (boating) it may get out of hand. You can easily give the fish back to most stores- they may even give u some cash for ur boat, who knows!

Just do that so the fish live. Good luck and good boating! <--i have an 18 ft. BW'er myself- awesome fun!

I think you have already made your decision and are just looking for confirmation. As Cheese Specialist stated some hobbies work for people and some dont. This seems to be in the dont column for you at this time in your life. So ask the LFS to take your fish and try to sell the aquarium and gear to raise money for your other hobbies. Good Luck in your future endeavours.

Well, I saw nothing flaming or trolling in the original question... Don't know where some of you came up with that!! Just because he said he thinks his fish are boring? :dunno:

Good answers from tstenback, scubaduba, and cheese. Ditto those responses.
