Well i was thinking of a way to make some money and i thought about sellin my fry when they matured enough. Do you think any major pets stores will buy them from me if they are in good condition? Or do you think the local stores will buy them in fare conditions? :/

Usually the better the condition of the fish, the more the LFS will be able to charge for them, therefore the more you will get out of them. Don't "burn" your LFS by selling them sick or non-quality fish, only something you would buy yourself.

Many times, "major" pet stores will not buy fish from individuals. You may be able to talk them into "taking the fish off your hands" if it is something you just want to get rid of. Your best bet, though, is an independently owned "Mom & Pop" type fish store. Most of these are willing to give you store credit for any fish you may have....a good way to pay for your supplies!

Yeah well i thought that places like pets mart would not take my fish and give me something. But the LFS thing what is that does it stand for "local fish store" or something. Well i might be able to get store cred from them if they will cooperate with me. Maybe i can sell some to my freinds? :p but i dought it. Oh thanks for that detailed information.

The PetsMart where I live will only "take" large plecos that have outgrown your tank.

"LFS" is the abbreviation for local fish store, it can mean local owned or part of a chain or anything in your area that sells fish, it's just kind of a generic term.

There is a nice local owned shop in the town I live in and they buy just about anything that I decide to breed. If it's a fish that they normally sell for $1, they will give me fifty cents store credit for it, or if I want cash they will give me a quarter. I normally go for the store credit thing. I also sell fish to friends and people I work with...they tell their friends, pretty soon word gets out and you are in business! ;)

advertise in a local newspaper or start an auction on ebay. You may get more for that rather than seling them to your LFS

unless it's an interesting/expensive fish most shops won't pay for them.

at work we will pay for large plecs, cichlids, oddballs and other larger fish that will sell easily but all we can for livebeares is "give them a home" there usually not big enough to sell straight away so have to be housed and fed until they are big enough.
