Should I Put In The Male Molly First?

Hey guys! This weekend, I am getting a female molly to put in my 10 gallon fry tank. I want to put one of my male mollies in there to mate with her for a couple of minutes, but the only problem is, which fish should I put in first?

I thought it through, and this is what I came up with:

If I put the male in first:
The female would be stressed out seeing him from the "floating bag" point of view. He would stress her out as soon as she got out of the bag.

If I put the female in first:
She would have some time to settle down, but then once I start putting the male in, the movement of the net would stress her out a lot.

The reason why I want to do it this way is because my 20 gallon is too crowded for a pregnant or soon to be pregnant female to go in without stress.
If I can have her in the 10 gallon for her whole gestation period, she wouldn't be as stressed out going into the 20 gallon after giving birth, and any diseases that she had before would be gone. (Like the quarantining process.)

So what do you think I should do?
Male or female first?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I think female, then male, but it might not be good to have her in there the whole period. :dunno:

Thank you. I think she'd be fine. The tank is peaceful, and not overcrowded, unlike my 20 gallon. Also, it will be like a quarantine for her if she IS sick, so I won't have to worry about bringing a disease into my 20 gallon.

Thanks.

If you are concerned about getting the new fish quarantined for a month, don't move a male in with her at all. That would defeat the whole purpose of a QT by letting the male act as a vector for disease to get into your main tank. The female is already likely to be carrying fry so there would be no point to introducing the male anyway.

Okay, thanks. I didn't even get a female anyway.

That's also probably because my platy gave birth yesterday.
So far I've caught 7 babies. :)
