Should I Kill My Fish? (Please Read Before Judging Me)

I dont think I ever could kill a fish or any other animal, even if it clearly was the best thing to do. Which is admittedly quite selfish.

same here. we had a clown loach slowly dying due to white spot, it's skin was actually peeling off, and we just couldn't kill it. i guess there's always the hope it pulls through, and tbh, although i love my fish, they are fish, and don't last as long as other pets, but i was still annoyed that it died.

we've had a couple of fish that have lived and died in this situation, or similar. we have 4 albino cats, 2 have only one eye each and 1 has no eyes at all, we've still no idea what other fish did that to them, but the blind one is actually amazing to watch, it's like it sniffs the food out!!

some fish can be so resilient, so let it be. my dad keeps telling me fish feel no pain, but i've no idea if that is true...

Is this a wild caught guppy? If it isn't it was never taken out of its natural habitat. I'll go out on a limb here, and say it's a domestic bred fancy guppy. If my domestic dog has a bad tooth, I guess I should just let nature take its course and let it die a slow painful death due to infection. Have you ever taken any prescription drugs? If so, why, why not let nature take its course?

To get back on topic, it would depend on what ailment the fish is suffering from. If it has a good chance of surviving, I would certainly give it the chance. However if it was suffering from an advanced fatal ailment, I wouldn't hesitate to put it out of it's misery, but only if it was hopeless. I've seen enough suffering in my days.

It is surprising just what fish can bounce back from. We have had MANY fish on 'Deaths Door' that have bounced back with a bit of TLC and the right meds. We have a goldfish named Hercule's and the amount of times we have had to pull him inside for treatment is unreal (a heron ripped a chunk out of him one time and he survived that!)
