I have many kinda planties in a community tank, i notice once their fry grows up, most look much uglier than their parents, and seems most look more similar to the mum.

I know it happens to guppy, once cross breed, the offspring are crossed, rarely u will get a good one.

so if i want to get some nice one, at least same looks as their parents, maybe should i keep them seperatly, maybe just temporary?

That's a possibility but genetics are not simple Mendelian genetics here. You have a better chance with two similar looking pairs, but if your fish have already given birth, they store sperm. You have to wait up to six months to be sure that the father is really the father of the fry.
