I need to get a heater for my 75 gallon corner tank. I want a fully submersible one (or two) that can be mounted horizontally. I'll probably go with 2 heaters rather than one big one. Any recommendations? Any to avoid? My living room doesn't get very cold, last winter I got by with 2 50 watt heaters without any problems but those two heaters are in use in my fry tanks now so I figure its time to actually buy some heaters specifically for this tank.

Hi. I just bought a new heater on the weekend for my new 55 gallon. I looked at Rena Cal, Visi Therm Deluxe, and Jager. I asked the kid at the LFS (Big Als) and he said the Jager was considered the best, and that the Visi Therm and Rena Cal were comparable. The Jager is the most expensive, but they all were within about 7 dollars of each other. I would say if you go with a good brand name you will be ok. I chose the Rena Cal by the way because i liked the temperature adjustment knob better than the Visi Therm one. All 3 types that i mentioned are fully submersible and can be mounted horizontally. Hope this helps you at least a little.

I love Ebo Jager heaters. They keep the temp constant and most can be fully submersed. Very reliable.

At the present time I'm calibrating a Newly installed Heater.

And I "HATE" Setting a NEW HEATER.

You get the Stupid Thing to bring your Tank Temp to Where you want it, Turn it down just enough to get it too Shut Off, and it Keeps Going slowly, Raising your tank 1 or 2 degrees F, above what Ya want, then you have to START turning it down a Hair at a time until You finally get it, Somewhere Close to where you want it set at.

Right Now I'm setting up a Tetra Whisper Submersable Heater.

Only cause it was Given to me, and I can't really afford a New One at the moment.

But if I were to Buy One myself I'd Go for the Visi Therm, I LOVE the Indicator for setting the Temp.
