I am stunned and amazed as the general consensus is that shrimp have a low bioload, is it just the amanos that don't?

i here all the time that not to count them on the bioload, i never knew they were this bad lol!

my shrimp poop 24/7

i think people say they have low-bioload because most of their diet is vegetation, so its not as messy as meats?

and they eat any leftover foods that'd cause bad water quality.

Well I put an amano in one of my small tanks to clean up a bit of an algae bloom that occurred, which he did do. But since then he has just poo poo poo poo poooooo'd everywhere and I am not bloody impressed.

i think people will just find any excuse to get a few extra fish in so it's the 'oh the shrimp don't count' card to be totally honest!!

they'll more than happily feed on flake/pellet food if any of it finds it's way to them so i don't think you can say their waste is less bad than anything else in the tank.

they could also be pooping a lot cause they graze all the time, i suppose.

shrimp have a high metabolism and as such when they eat a lot, they make a lot of mess. In the average aquarium there is plenty of food for them so they feed all day and poo all night.

Sounds a lot like my husband that does
