After inheriting my family of fish a year ago I am now getting used to then - or so I thought!!!

This morning I cleaned filters etc, added more water and fed the fish, all was well nothing had changed.

I 0ften look in the tank as I love to watch them I find it very relaxing but this afternoon I thought I awas seeing things - swimming at the top of my tank was around 30 baby fish, well!!!

The question is what do I do now, please help I am desperate :shout:

What fish do you have in your tank?

What size are the fry?

2 Black Mollies, 2 Golden Mollies, 1 cat fish and one plec

The fry are about this big --- there are 2 dark ones and the rest are colourless.

Molly fry. Congrats. Give them some plants to hide in if you want to keep them... otherwise, well, survival of the fittest.

Hi

I have a heavily pregnant platy. I am very new to all this but have put the platy into a breeding net for now. I read that once you see little black spots by her anal fin she is 1-2 days away from birth. Can someone confirm this is correct?

Many Thanks

Feed the babies liquifry, crushed flake food, or some baby brine shrimp...

I do have plants in the tank but obviously I was just not prepared for this event, I hope they survive until I manage to get some hands on help from the pet shop.

Apolloefc that is indeed correct.

mollyfish i myself have never experienced a molly eat fry, so as far as i am aware they should be just fine, just add some floating plants. just wondering if its a pair of black and pair of gold as it should really be 2/3 females per male to avoid stress. Congrats :good:

oh goodness I have no idea if they are pairs or not - they all seems very happy toogether prhaps you can tell me what the difference is between males & females?

you must have one female, and my LFS normally sell them in pairs which is why i asked. this picture should help you :good:

Ah, I think I have a pair of Back and a pair of Gold (male/female of each) thank you.

Does that mean I could end up having babies on a regular basis?

yep every 4-6 weeks, can't remember the exact time for mollies, you could do with another 2 females. what size is the tank and stocking numbers?
