Shipping Large Catfish

long story short I was relocated across country. I set-up a new tank a few months ago in preparation to ship out my 8 inch syno eupterus (featherfin catfish), but today my fiance and my dad took the fish to my LFS who helped them package it. The problem is even in the largest bag we had and after using 5 bags together he still would freak out at times and puncture the bags making it impossible to ship him like that. I am fearful that using plastic Tupperware would not allow the heatpacks to keep the water warm enough. my stuff is moving in the next week, any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated.

One of the fun things about getting large cats shipped in is pulling that sleeve. Get a bucket ready, pull the sleeve after opening the bag & watch the fish turn the bag into a colander.

I know, twisted, but just one more facet of fishkeeping fun!

Some folks also withold food for 24 to 48 hours before shipping large fish to decrease the ammonia levels that may rise in shipping bag.

Those bags should help a lot. I ordered a bunch to be extra cautious. The syno will sit at my local LFS for a day seeing as the only day I am in town to ship him out is sunday and they will not over night ship so my lfs agreed to ship him on monday for me. I am hoping it all works out and he makes it safely. If he does not my fiance may kill me!
