Hi guys,
I'm getting a fish from the UK, but the lady I'm getting it from told me to find out how we go about this. Anybody ever shipped overseas? I get most of my bettas from Thailand, but they go through a transhipper, so this is new.

I would appreciate it if someone over there ;) could let me know the legalities of it :* This is a large fish, so it's going to be a large box :X

Sorry Sorrell, I had a look for you, but couldn't find any info.

We have UPS and Fedex here, so maybe one of them can help, or try Royal Mail.

I've only ever sent stuff to USA via Royal Mail, but not sure if they'd take live fish.

I'm not sure about the UK - USA, but to get fish sent here to aus you'll need a bucket load of permits, etc. Organise quarantine, a customs inspection, yada yada yada.

What type of fish are you getting?

Hi,

I recently looked in to shipping a fish from England to Gibraltar so obviously nowhere near as far but the problem in England appears to be that VERY few couriers/shipping companies here will ship live animals any larger than Fry stage. Parcel-Force/Royal Mail won't. FedEX wouldn't accept any fish from anyone but a breeder with proof doccuments of the animal's health etc and specialist insurance. As a Pilot I can also confirm that most UK carries would charge a premium figure for you to be able to ship the live animal in the hold. It costs about an extra £40/3Hr in fuel to heat the hold and very few carries will want to fork that out themselves!
Good luck but Im afraid to say I failed in my attempt to get the fish abroad.

Thanks guys, I'm being a freakin tree hugger and trying to get a pacu that someone bought accidently as a piranha and so they decided to feed it to their red bellies. Makes me so sad as pacus are my favorite fish in the world  I really appreciate all the info and help. We'll see what happens :(
