Shark Egg

I just bought a shark egg at the specialty aquarium store and when they put it in the bag it floated, i wasnt sure if that was bad or not so when i brought it home i looked online and they were on the bottom in the pictures. Im not sure if it needs to wait a while to sink or if it means its dead or what. Does anybody know?
