So I'm gonna add to my one female Betta and start a sorority. I know the more you have the less agression but I'm still aprehensive. Can you share your experiences of having a sorority please, the good and the bad. Thanks
My female sorority tank is 260 litres. It is very heavily planted with Java fern and Amazon Frogbit. I have 27 females in there, along with some corys, bn plecos. I also have 2 male bettas in this tank. I have been very lucky,- not one bit of fin nipping at all! The two males 'live' at opposite ends of the tank, but there is no aggression between them when they meet at one end. The Doctor flares and Rory goes back to his own end! The males and females take no notice of each other. The most I ever get is one betta flaring at another and then off they go their separate ways!
My daughters have just had a 35 litre tank set up in their bedroom. It currently has one female betta plus two platy fry that are growing out. I will be getting another 4 female bettas to put in this tank so that there will be five altogether as I wouldn't want to keep less than that amount.
i used to keep 4 sisters in my 60l when i first got into bettas, now i have 8 (soon to be 13) in a 30 gal, there is very little aggression just make sure you do have plants/caves incase they do decide to scrap.
Mixing tails types is fine i have HMs, PKs, VTs & a CT in mine
