Shall I Go For It?

Ive been consenplating over whether to get Dwarf Gouramis in my new tank? Ive just heard so much bad things about them, but they are beautiful looking fish! What do you lot think?

Also are i saw a tank with Blue Gouramis in it , Are they Dwarf Blue Gourami ?

Dwarf gouramis are indeed nice fish, but pronte to diseases, and many people on this forum have had trouble with them. There exist other 'blue' gouramis, which are the 3-spot/opaline gourami. These are hardy fish, get bigger though than dwarfs, and are available in different colours.

Without a picture it is difficult to say whether the one you saw is a dwarf or an opaline..... Try and google the 2 species, and see which one resembles the one you saw.

The differences are fairly obvious, but the main things to look for are;
The 3 spot (not a dwarf) or blue gourami has 2 large dark spots on it, the third (as in 3 spot) is its eye...
The dwarf will have much stronger vertical striping and is a much stubbier fish....

Try to avoid dwarves, i think i've pointed this out to you before but you may regret it...
