Sexing Texas Cichlids

i read on Cichlid-forum that the females have a black mark on their dorsal fin, and males lack this
is this true?
and is it everpresent from the 1"+ mark or does it appear at 6" or so?
anyone got an pics to prove this?

Yep thats true. The black mark is apparent from a young age. Although as I have just found out males can have some dark colouration to the dorsal but the spot on the female is very apparent.
