what differences do i look for to determine male from female?

had to say that.....
the breeding pipes for male there thin long n pointed females short fat stumpy tubes which is a white pertrudence at base of fish,for about 6months you wont know then tell tell signs ie longer fins on males pointed and rounded shorter fins for females...males generally larger......more intense colour...so on

What kind of rams? Blue/Gold or Bolivian? Blue/Gold are easier to sex by the shape/size of their fins and coloration. Convicts are easy to sex, the females have a reddish/orangish patch on their stomach.

would rams not go with convicts ? and what about cons and rainbows?

I wouldnt put anything with Cons unless its a large tank and the other fish are alot bigger than the cons ie: Oscars....and even they will get beat up if the Cons breed.

I have tried so many times to keep them in cichlid communitys but they are a total no go.....even in my 100g tank.
