hi,
I have a rio 180 tank with a compact filter system+ a fluval filter. My tank homes 2 gold severums, a krib and a bristlenose catfish.
I am having to clean the bottom of the tank every few days as it seems to get really messy, which then obviously affects the water quality.
I do have 2 other tanks running and do not have same problem.
Is it that severums make more mess? this is really a problem i cant figure out... any advice would be appreciated thankyou :*

no it is not your sevs, i have 5 sevs in my tank and they arent messy. it is your plecostomus, they are messy crap machines. i have one in with my sevs and every once in a while i will see him swimming around with a string of poop the length of my forearm trailing behind him.

seconded ^, plecs are impossibly messy, and it dont get better as they get bigger

I'd also like to add that that tank isn't going to be big enough for 2 severums, or even one if you get a big one. I would recommend a tank upgrade if you havn't already planned one already.

shroob is right about your tank, 180 liters is not enough for two sevs. I would say 208 liters is enough since sevs aren't active fish and they swim gracefully like angelfish. My tank is overstocked with sevs, but i have my 55 gallon empty and waiting on some sevs to move. If you want to upgrade to a 208 liter tank that could possibly work, it is all according to how active your sevs are. But that is just my personal opinion, everyone thinks differently.
