Ive finally managed to get my mum to agree to a big tank but i have to get rid of my other tanks. Im watching a tank on ebay thats 566L or 150USG. My BNs and there fry will be going into the new tank and i would love to add a sev but if i do are all the BN fry going to disappear or will i get the odd one mange to survive if i put lots of hiding spots in the tank. Im not going to put any other big cichlids in for now just the BNs some corys and a few trios of apisto.

I think Apistos may be risky with Sevs... Not tried it myself, my Apisto is in a separate tank. My Sevs could easily fit the little chap in their mouths if they wanted.

Should be ok with 2 300w heaters :good:

If the tank is in a reasonbly heated house, then one 300W should be fine.

I heat my 500 litre with one 300 Watt, no problem.

Large tanks are very good at holding their heat.

+1

It's always best to have more than one heater, should one malfunction, if possible. Also, it helps to heat the water up quicker and as there are two, they work together to keep the temperature steady so they don't have to keep switching on and off. I have two 300w in my 168g.

I forgot to say it will be going in the garage which is quite a bit colder so do you think i should go for more than 2 300W?

Yeah, I think Chocolates and Sevs can get on OK, but you know it's all down to the individual personality of the fish concerned :good:

Ill take that as i no then. I wasnt sure but a few places where saying they can be kept with tetra so just though i would ask. Thanks :good:

I compare the Chocolate (even though I have never kept one, but a similar type of fish) to an Oscar. Wouldn't risk it.

My Oscar would eat my little Apisto in a heart beat if he felt so inclined. Chances are he would not, as he is well fed, well by my standards he is anyway  I just wouldn't risk it.
