Fish Crazy
1. We have a 37 gallon tank that has been going through ICK treatment for over a week now. It's actually gotten pretty frustrating. The odd thing I noticed is none of the top dwelling fish have gotten it. The loaches did, the ones we presume brought home the parasite, but they died off. 
We treated two days longer than we saw signs of it. We had noticed a fleck on two cory cats. Well, we went back to normal...turned the light on, etc. Then about another 2 days later I noticed a pepper cory with 3 suspicious flecks though they weren't quite white. More of a yellow color. I've seen ICK before and treated it successfully. I know the loaches had it, but I'm beginning to think there is something else going on? Also just seems odd that none of the rams, bettas, guppies, or platies have gotten it. Just the cories and the loaches who of course have passed on. We treated for about 6 days originally with Malachite Green. Then we switched to the API Super ICK cure and have used it for two days. Getting concerned now though because there has not been any carbon in the tank for a week and a half and I'm noticing that my skunk cory is starting to look really drab. The cories in general are beginning to suffer and I don't want to lose more fish! I have done a single water change since the treatment started and that was when I originally thought it was all gone. What to do!?
2. A neighbor moved and left a 55 gallon tank so of course I nabbed it! It was great timing as we had an oscar we rescued from Petsmart. We ended up giving the oscar to our local fish store. They were delighted to take it as he was a nice looking one. So the 55 was never cycled or anything. But we bought lids for it and had a filter w/ no carbon going for airflow. Now that we don't have the oscar my fiance emptied the tank and put it in his bedroom on the dresser!!! I don't want it there. I think overtime it is going to warp the dresser because when filled that tank is going to weigh pushing 600 pounds! We may not use the tank at all. Between each other we have 5 tanks already. We have a beautiful 55 set up in the kitchen and two 10 gallons on the kitchen counter that need to move. And we have a 37 gallon and I will be bringing my 5.5 gallon with bettas there this fall. (Not to mention we have a 29 we aren't using!) His house isn't huge either. We have more tanks than we know what to do with. What should we do with the tank? Store it away for now? Use it?
He wants to use it, but having this many tanks is so time consuming and I end up having to vaccuum them when I'm over visiting because he gets pretty slack about it. Ahhh.
