I think they're quite shy, generally (others may correct me if I'm wrong).
I remember reading a similar post on here a while back, so i just did quick search and found it

Hope this helps

When i had my 4footer, i had a baby peppermint and it was really shy for ages, walking past the tank and it hid, but in time it would just sit on display quite happily

tbh sometimes it does depend on the fish

thanks for that - im not worried about him as judging by the amount of huge fish poos around the tank im guessing he must get out and about and eat some stuff during the night (im feeding catfish pellets for him and my cories 30mins after lights off as said on here) - he just seems to have found a hidy hole under some wood and plants and never comes out! hopefully he will do though - be nice to see every once in a while!

maybe also consider algea wafers not just catfish pellets as they do need algae in their diet
