hi recently brought a secon Hand jbl proflora m500 kit. went to connect the regulator to the bottle last night but although I've done the nut up as tight as I can by hand the regulator is still loose and loads of movement in it. I thought this is normal as it was tight so turned the bottle on and I heard a loud gushing noise and the regulator part popped forward slightly so i quickly turned it off. so I'm guessing it was all exscapping? is this normal for this model and just turn it on and it will self lock after that?

did you not get a spanner with it? Are you using the JBL canisters?

no it's like a round screw on nut (not nut shaped) and it is the refillable bottles jbl supplied

any chance of a pic? They are definiatly nuts that are on all C02 bottles.

any ideas?

it's one of the old regs, so you'll need a ratchet to tighten it. Is it really loose then? Could you shake it off? It should fit like a glove, it should be exactly like a nut and bolt, is it not gripping?. cheers for the pics. :good:

I take it you know about these so know the thread lock turns around the regulator so to give you a idea I've tightened it as much as I can by hand and I can spin the regulator around lol and it's got about 1/8" movement moving it in and out, when you say a ratchet you mean a pair of molegrips? as it's round a spanner won't go on it,

also if I do use molegrips how tight should I do it or as tight as I can get it just worried incase the casting splits/cracks or are these very strong

then it's not the right fit IME, i use the JBL regs, and they fit like a glove. I wouldn't turn it on again, as there are some great pressures in those canisters. I suppose you take the reg to the place you get your refils from and see if it will fit another canister. Molegrips should work normally.

edit, you should tighten it as much as you possibly can, these things are industrial so won't split easily.

I've not used molegrips yet should I see it it tightens up with them first or it it doesn't go right on with fingers something up? (using a ratchet or spanner should only be used for the last final tighten?)

yes, you should be able to at least start to thread the connections, and then use the mole-grips as the tightener.

all sorted went back to maidanhead and they swapped over the bottle as they said they gave me the wrong one lol the bar pressure only goes up to 1.5 though is that about right?

I've just set it up to 1 bubble every 4 seconds

Yep, 1.5 bar is perfect. As for the bps, it'll be a good idea if you got a drop checker. I'm on my phone at the min so can't link stuff, but if you go to the top of the planted forum, you'll see a topic called 'parc' there's a section in there about drop checkers and what they do.
