So I have my aqua one horizon 60 and a tetratec ex600. Where would it be best to position the inlet and outlet? Same end of the tank, different ends? I have to get another piece of glass cut to replace the back piece. The cutout for the HOB filter is big enough for my hand, let alone a kitty paw! I'll need to know how the filter has to go in order to decide how to get the glass cut.
I think inlet and outlet at opposite ends to create flow across the tank? This would also be the easiest arrangement for the glass cutting.
Thanks for any advice :)

Brilliant, thanks for that :) I hadn't even noticed it had a spraybar!
I've got the in and out tubes set up in the tank now so I can work out how the glass needs to be cut. Think I might need new suckers though, they will not stay put
Do I need to worry about the inlet being close to sand? I intend to have a sand substrate and at its shortest, the inlet is only about 5cm from the top of the substrate.

can i ask why you are cutting the tank. externals are designed to fit, without that.

as for placement. the usual suggestion is. the inlet is set diagonally opposite the outlet. as this is messy, from the aesthetic point of view. the compromise is, often, to have the two pipes as far apart as possible along the back of the tank. don't worry too much about the "spray bar". many get by without one. none seem to have problems.

yes, i would be cautious of the inlet being very close to the substrate. but 5cm is, about, how far mine (or one of them)is. but cautious is the work, not worried.

It's the glass lid I am cutting, not the tank itself. Here's the tank on eBay Can you see the large cutout for the HOB? My cats would have their paws in that like a flash! So I'm going to get a new piece cut to fit more snugly around the pipes.
Seems this filter only has a spraybar for the outlet which will spread the water over a large area?
